Post Natal Acupuncture
The post natal period refers to the six-week following childbirth. In the weeks following childbirth, the majority of time is of course for mother and baby bonding. However it's also a great opportunity for mothers to regain their strength following pregnancy and giving birth. Some women find that it can be a struggle and experience low energy, depression and can have continued physical issues.
There is evidence to show that post natal acupuncture can help with some post natal symptoms, such as chronic tiredness, soreness and back and neck pain following birth, and post natal depression. During your pregnancy, your body, mind and emotions are under a considerable strain, and persistent post natal symptoms are an indicator that the body is struggling to regain its balance. Restoring balance is exactly what traditional Chinese medicine aims to do. Post natal acupuncture can help restore that balance. Breast feeding, too, can be exhausting and some mothers struggle to produce enough milk for their babies. When babies grow and mothers are required to carry them more, this can lead to hip and back pain. But these problems can also be alleviated by post natal acupuncture. There is evidence to show that acupuncture can actually be effective in increasing milk supply.
